On Any Sunday. Now Available Online In The USA

Submitted by on July 2, 2009

US online video site Hulu has just made “On Any Sunday”, Bruce Brown’s famous 1971 documentary about motorcycle racing, available for free online. However it’s only available to those that live in the States. For those without a US ISP you can get the movie on DVD here

For those unfamiliar with “On Any Sunday”, it is universally regarded as the greatest motorcycling movie of all time. It was also nominated for an Academy Award for best Documentary Feature in 1972.

Director Bruce Brown brought his unique style, honed on the 1966 iconic surf movie “The Endless Summer” to the project. The result was some incredible on board footage and an atmosphere so intoxicating  that thousands of kids across the world rushed out and bought bikes. In short it did for motorcycle racing what “The Endless Summer” did for surfing.

The movie features superstar Steve McQueen, dirt tracker, Mert Lawwill and off-road legend Malcolm Smith to name a few.

In the clip above US dirt track legend Mert Lawwill transforms from well mannered family man to heroic flat-track racer by swapping his suit for a set of racing leathers.

How come nothing comes close 38 years down the track?
