2009 Australian Muscle Car Masters

Submitted by on August 20, 2009

The Australian Muscle Car Masters annual Father’s Day celebration of Australia’s fantastic muscle car heritage returns to Sydney’s Eastern Creek Raceway on September 6th.

Better than ever, with new cars and stars, new retro racing categories and big anniversary celebrations of some of Australia’s greatest classics.

Highlights of the events include:

Muscle Car masters Legends Dinner on Saturday 5th. Guest speakers include Harry Firth, Colin Bond and Fred Gibson telling tales from the legendary past.

GT HO 40th Anniversary. The limited build competition Ford failed in its first attempt to win Bathurst, but the Phase II and Phase III versions enjoyed back to back wins in ’70 and ’71. In 2009, the organisers invite owners of all GT-HOs to join them for this very special celebration of the quintessential Australian muscle car.

Monaro GTS 350 Anniversary. Holden’s contender for Bathurst victory gets the job done with Norm Beechey taking out the 1969 event. So, let’s celebrate the 40th birthday of this famous Monaro in style, with as many HT GTS 350s as we can muster.

Brocky’s Biggest Win 30th Anniversary. It’s 30 years since Brocky and Jim Richards won Bathurst by 6 laps. On the way to that historic victory, Brock took pole position, was never headed for the entire 1000 km distance and claimed a new lap record on the final lap of the race. It is, quite simply, the biggest win in Bathurst history. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of that astonishing achievement, the organisers invite all Torana A9X owners to gather at Eastern Creek on Father’s Day to celebrate that special Sunday in September, 1979.

All tickets include general admission, grandstand admission and entry into the competitors paddock. Children under 12 years FREE when accompanied by an adult. A Sunday Adult ticket is $40.

On track action includes the Biante Touring Car Masters, Group C Touring Cars (73-84), Group A Touring Cars (85-92), NZ Central Muscle Cars, Group N Historic Touring Cars (pre 73) and  much more.
