Nannini Classic Motorsport Eyeware

Submitted by on November 28, 2009

Check out this beautiful range of Italian designed motorsport goggles from Nannini.

The idea of specialised indestructible eyewear ideal for motorsports came out of a chance encounter between company founder Giorgio Nannini and a group of Bugatti racing drivers in 1958.

“It was in ’58, in Cortina, where I was staying in a hotel that I got to know a group of Bugatti drivers. I heard them say: if only there were glasses we could wear specifically for sports. I thought there must be a way to create eyewear specifically for them, eyewear that was light and comfortable.” said Nannini

Thus the foundations of the Nannini Italian Eyeware company were born, but it wasn’t until 1972 when production started on a large scale.

The historically-inspired range of eyewear features  leather frames, chrome rims, and the ability to add prescription lenses.

Models include the traditional Classic Line through to the Special Line, which has been made even more unique by the use of metal detailing, camouflage fabrics and prints of national flags on the “Flag” model.

The googles are available in Australia through www.flexvision.com.au . Prices start at A$189.
