Alan Jones Memorabilia: 30th Anniversary of his 1980 F1 World Championship.

Submitted by on April 17, 2010

It’s hard to believe its been 30 years since Alan Jones scored a stunning win at the Canadian Grand Prix to claim the 1980 Formula 1 World Drivers Championship.

Jones had a spectacular season in 1980, winning six races on the road ( five in the record books) and giving Williams their first World Drivers Championship and also helping the team to achieve the Constructors Championship too.

His no nonsense approach to racing and his dry wit made him a hit with fans and team owners, and left rivals and team mates wishing they were elsewhere.

He is still Australia’s most recent World Champion and to commemorate the 30 year anniversary of his 1980 World Championship success, The Motorsport Shop have signed prints and a replica helmet for sale.

The Alan Jones Print, is signed by AJ and come in two two sizes, one is an A4 which retails for A$195 and the other is an A3 version for A$295. There will be just 200 of each size for sale worldwide.

There are also 30 full size replica helmets, identical to the one used by Alan on the day he beat Nelson Piquet to the title in Montreal.

The Motorsport Shop has number 30 for sale, signed, cased and ready to ship for A$4500.
