Kubica seriously injured in crash. Senna expected to race Lotus Renault in 2011

Submitted by on February 6, 2011

Polish sensation Robert Kubica has suffered severe fractures to his arm and leg in a rally crash in Italy.

Last week the 26 year old had  finished at the top of the time sheets in the retro look Lotus Renualt during pre season testing at Valencia. Now it looks unlikely he will be fit to start the season. Some reports even suggesting the crash may end his career.

We love the fact that Kubica is old school enough to be out there on a Sunday, hurling a rally car around between the trees, but we know his bosses at Lotus GP will be devastated with the outcome. It’s surprising his contract allows him to rally given that Kubica is no stranger to massive accidents. Remember he was lucky to survive this absolute monster crash at Montreal in 2007.

One bloke with mixed feelings about Robert’s terrible misfortune will be reserve driver Bruno Senna. It now looks certain Ayrton’s nephew will begin the season in a black and gold Lotus Renault!

F1 always surprises.
