Enjoy these pics from Thursday and Friday at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed

This year’s overall theme is ‘Racing Revolutions – Quantum leaps that shaped motor sport’ and Goodwood is showcasing automotive icons that trumpeted four-wheel drive, ground effects, paddle shift gearboxes and other goalpost-moving innovations.

The Indianapolis 500’s centenary year will also be honoured with the biggest celebration of the legendary oval race outside North America. More than 40 cars with ‘Brickyard’ history will be on display, or taking to the hill, along with winners of the great race such as US racing icon Parnelli Jones, three-time winners Bobby Unser and ‘Lone Star JR’ Johnny Rutherford, Brazilian star Emerson Fittipaldi and Briton Dan Wheldon who claimed his second victory two months ago.

Building on yesterday’s hugely popular Moving Motor Show, Friday’s action kicked off with the supercar runs with many unusual suspects such as the Covini six-wheeler and Hulme roadster from New Zealand making their Goodwood debuts. Away from the hill, the newly-reworked Forrest Rally Stage will play host to such talents as Rauno Aaltonen, Russell Brookes, Jimmy McRae and American driver and Internet sensation, Ken Block. Not to be missed!
