Davidson leads Le Mans contenders to Chelsea AutoLegends

The cars and stars of the 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and Le Mans Series will be out in force for this weekend’s Chelsea AutoLegends in central London on Sunday, September 4, just a week before they take to the track for the Autosport 6 Hours of Silverstone.

BBC 5 Live Formula 1 commentator and 2010 Silverstone winner Anthony  Davidson, who races for Peugeot Sport, will join Aston Martin driver Chris Buncombe, Jetalliance Lotus driver Johnny Mowlem and Strakka Racing drivers Nick Leventis, Jonny Kane and Danny Watts as they meet thousands of motoring aficionados at the Royal Chelsea Hospital.

Not only will the drivers be present for autographs, photo opportunities and interviews, but also the cars they are campaigning in the world’s premier endurance racing calendar, including the Sebring 12 Hours, Spa 1000km, Le Mans 24 Hours and Autosport 6 Hours of Silverstone.

Representing the mighty 210+mph LMP1 category will be the works Peugeot 908 HDi which has dominated the six hour races so far this season, together with the sonorous Aston Martin DBR1-2 coupé which heads the petrol-powered fightback against the diesel supercars of Peugeot and Audi.

A strong British entry is looking forward to making the most of the home ground advantage at the Silverstone round on September 9-10-11, and will be represented by Northern Irish team JMW Motorsport and their exotic Ferrari 458 Italia GT and the ARX LMP2 prototype of Silverstone-based Strakka Racing.

In addition the Signatech Nissan LMP2 team is arriving in the UK early from its French base to be present at the unique Chelsea AutoLegends event.

The glamour and technology of these modern Le Mans racing cars will line up alongside 30 of their illustrious forebears in the central display area. Le Mans and Silverstone veterans from the likes of Bentley, Porsche and Jaguar will be on display

Finally, bringing the ambience of Le Mans racing to life for visitors to the Chelsea AutoLegends will be the quartet of Autosport 6 Hours of Silverstone girls. Wearing the signature red outfits that have become famous around the world from the Le Mans 24 Hours, the girls will usher in a week of high speed excitement from the Chelsea AutoLegends through to the Autosport 6 Hours of Silverstone.

Tickets: Discounted advance tickets are still available via the event’s new website or from the ticket hotline on 0844 581 0760. Advanced adult tickets are £15 (£20 on the gate) and £10 (£20 on the gate) for 12-16 year-olds. Underlining the event’s family entertainment values, accompanied children aged under 12 will be admitted free of charge.
