Video: Senna Interviewed by Ron Dennis After the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix

Prost 1990 Japanese Grand Prix

As short as the 1990 Japanese Formula One Grand Prix was for Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, it still managed to be pretty eventful.

Suzuka was playing host to the championship decider between the drivers who were, once again, locked in a battle for the drivers’ title. The order this year had Senna ahead on points and racing to protect his lead from Prost, who was fighting for his second consecutive title. Nigel Mansell was in third, a comfortable distance behind the dueling pair.

Senna put his McLaren on pole again and was followed by his old teammate, now driving for Ferrari. Only this year they wouldn’t make it past the first corner before coming together and concluding the championship chase.

This video features on-board footage from the race as Senna is interviewed by Ron Dennis and talks about the incident.

    Hypocritical and talented bastard.

This is why I will never put Senna in the same class as Fangio. In the first place, Fangio never would have made a move like that, and in the second place, once Prost started to move over, Fangio would have backed off.
Senna keeps saying “Prost closed the door.” Gee, Ayrton, don’t McLarens have brakes on them?!!?
