Ex Targa Florio & Le Mans GT class-winning 1976 Porsche 934

Another entry in the stunning Harrison Collection, this pretty-in-pink Porsche 934 is up for sale over at Maxted-Page.

Introduced for the 1976 racing season, Porsche’s 934 was based off the classic 930 Turbo. The story goes that when the racing teams saw Manfred Schurti testing on the Nordschleife and lapping fifteen seconds faster than the previous Carrera RSR, they quickly went off to buy 934s for the European GT Championship.

This particular car is 0157, the 15th 934 produced. Guiseppe Bianco picked it up in 1976 and took it racing with the Jolly Club Team, where, with Luigi Tammasini co-piloting, it quickly achieved one of its most distinctive victories – the overall win in the 1976 Targa Florio.

After being sold to Roland Ennequin, the car would find more success in endurance racing. It took second in the GT class in both the 1979 and 1980 24 Hours of Le Mans. Things got better in 1981, when it had its best run at the storied event, covering 3,737.439 kilometres over the 24 hours at an average speed of nearly 156 kilometers an hour. It finished first in the GT class and sixteenth overall.

1981 was its last year of international competition. After retiring from its international racing career it was stored until 2007, when it received a comprehensive restoration. It remains in very original condition, with necessary changes made to prepare it for historic racing.

It’s up for sale at Maxted-Page and you can head their website here for more info.
