Dick Johnson Retro Livery

Dick Johnson Racing has revealed a retro inspired Greens’-Tuf livery on the #17 Ford Falcon that the team will campaign in the Bathurst 1000 this weekend.

The famous design celebrates 30 years since Johnson’s monumental crash at Forrest’s Elbow during the the Top 10 Shootout. The subsequent effort to get Johnson onto the start line defined the teams 1983 Bathurst 1000 campaign and created another chapter in Johnson’s Bathurst legend.

The crash destroyed the number 17 Greens’-Tuf Ford Falcon, however the team famously leased another Falcon from privateer Andrew Harris and set about rebuilding it overnight using the #17 cars running gear and donor chassis. Amazingly the team was able to get Johnson and co-driver Kevin Bartlett to the start line, but sadly they completed just 61 laps of the “Great Race” on Sunday before retiring with mechanical issues.
