“It’s a police car without a siren!” – Peter Brock

Thanks to its big power and low weight, the VH Commodore SS was the perfect production platform for Holden’s early ‘80s Bathurst blitz.

Peter Brock had been fighting with the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport since 1980 to get the big-valve L340-type heads on his HDT Commodores approved for racing, so the release of the V8 VH SS in late ’82 proved his ticket to Bathurst glory – valid for two consecutive wins on The Mountain.

VH Commodore SS: The Cop Car that won Bathurst at the Shannons Club tells the story, and it’s a great one.
