When the Holden VN Commodore SS Group A hit the track in 1991 it drove straight into the fearsome maw of Godzilla. It never had a chance.

Nissan’s R32 Skyline GT-R pushed the boundaries of the FIA’s rulebook to their very limits. The result was a monster with a twin-turbo 2.6-litre DOHC 24-valve inline six that, in qualifying, unleashed 700 bhp through a six-speed gearbox, electronically-controlled central differential and sophisticated all-wheel drive system.

It’s the ultimate Group A touring car, and nothing on the circuit at the time really stood a chance against it, including Holden’s VN Commodore SS Group A.
