Barry Sheene – The Magnificent Seven

There probably isn’t too much I can write about Barry Sheene that hasn’t already been written.
He was obviously loved the world over for his riding ability, charisma, humour and bravery. We were certainly fond of him here in Australia and we still miss his expert commentary during motor racing telecasts.
I was lucky enough to chat to Barry back when I was racing Formula Ford and was struck by his pure love of racing. I couldn’t believe he was walking around the Formula Ford paddock saying hello and taking an interest in what we were doing. What a lovely bloke.
