Two Days of Thunder set for June 25-26 at Queensland Raceway

Historic fans are set for a huge weekend at Queensland Raceway for the Two Days of Thunder meeting on June 25-26th.

Highlights will include Historic Touring Cars, V8’s and Porsche’s on the race program, The event will feature three spectacular sports cars from the Porsche Museum and Ford is the feature make of the Shannons Show & Shine.

Group N Touring cars, Trans Am Tribute racers, rare Porsche Museum cars and a Cobra/GT 40 Challenge will all share the spotlights for two days of thunder at Queensland Raceway over the June 25-26 weekend.

Porsche will celebrate 60 years in Australia at the 2011 Shannons Sports & Muscle Car Spectacular by bringing three very special vehicles from the company’s Museum in Stuttgart, Germany – the 1987 Le Mans-winning 962 sports car, the spectacular long-tail Porsche 935 coupe that achieved 366km/h at Le Mans in 1978 and a modern-day Porsche supercar – a mid-engined V10 Carrera GT from 2003.

Eight-time Bathurst winner Jim Richards is Patron of the meeting and all eligible visitors who get a car, bike or home insurance quote from Shannons on the Sunday will go into the draw to win a hot lap at Lakeside with him in his new 320km/h Porsche GT2 RS.

Along with the events for Historic Touring Cars and Trans Am Tribute V8s, there will also be a Porsche feature race sponsored by Porsche Centre Gold Coast.

Amongst the many V8 entrants, Victorian Group N race Fraser Ross will be making the trip to try his luck in the Ex Jim Richards Mustang.

Sprint laps for Muscle Cars, Cobra/GT40s and Porsche are also part of the non-stop track program throughout the weekend.

The Shannons Show & Shine on the Sunday will feature Ford, with two genuine Trans Am Mustang and two mint Shelbys confirmed for display.

Adult entry costs $20 for Saturday and Sunday or $30 for the weekend, with children Under 12 free. Students 13-16 years old and Pensioners $10 each day.
