Brock and Perkins

The 1984 James Hardie Bathurst 1000 was won by Peter Brock and Larry Perkins driving a Holden Commodore for the Holden Dealer Team. It was the third consecutive victory for Brock, Perkins and HDT.

It was a very happy day for HDT fans as John Harvey and David Parsons backed up their team leaders and finished in second place. Third was taken by the Mazda RX-7 of Allan Moffat and Gregg Hansford.

This race was also remembered for the huge pile up at the start and for being the “The last for the Big Bangers”, in reference to the Group C touring cars, which were competing at Bathurst for the last time.
