“A race car has a soul, and the Audi 90 Quattro had a very special soul.”  Hans-Joachim Stuck

Hans-Joachim Stuck reminisces about the Audio 90 Quattro IMSA GTO with an infectious passion in this video, which is set against the backdrop of the team’s win at Sears Point in the 1989 IMSA GTO series.

As he enthuses about the uniquely wonderful longitudinally-mounted 530kw turbo five cylinder under the bonnet, Audi engineer Michael Ganz talks about what they learned from it and draws parallels to the turbocharged five cylinder that’s headed for the modern Audi TT RS.

The video is packed with classic IMSA GTO footage and Hans’ infectious storytelling and is well worth a watch!

The Arc Audi Racing Program will be racing double duty this weekend, as they take their Pirelli World Challenge GTS Audi TT RS, and their TC VW GTI to the track in the World Challenge finale at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. Don Istook, driver, stated “The Team has a lot of work ahead of it to be racing these two cars in 4 races at Infineon. A lot is at stake for the team to record good finishes to springboard into next season. The Arc Audi TT RS is still under development, but we certainly are making strides”. Istook’s Audi racing background wirh Audis goes back to 1984 when his team fielded Audi’s first foray into Motorsports in the U.S. with the original Audi Quattro. Fast forward to 2000 on, and the Istook team raced the S4 in World Challenge and Grand-Am, and then Audi TT in SCCA Club racing, World Challenge, and Grand-Am.
