This week marks 44 short years since Bruce McLaren lost his life whilst racing CanAm. The unbelievably talented New Zealand native was just 32 years old at the time – however had achieved so much in his career. Today his legacy continues to carry a huge amount of weight, particularly in Formula 1. Let’s take a look back at our 15 favorite photographs, celebrating the life, career and legacy of one of the great motorsport names.

The collection, by photographers Bernard Cahier and his son Paul-Henri are part of a massive collection of 400 000 originals of which 17 000+ pictures are currently available on their website.
