Gallery: The magic of the Silver Arrows
We could barely tear our eyes away from these incredible time-warp photographs when we first discovered them. Shot between 1934-1939, the images serve to wind the clock back to a very different time.
The Silver Arrows of Mercedes Benz and Auto Union were some of the most dominant racing cars motorsport had ever known. The legend tells us that the Silver Arrows were first stripped of their paint the night before a race in order to scrape below a 750kg weigh-in restriction, resulting in the bare finish and nickname which survive to this day.
