This 1978 Ferrari 308 GTB Group B is one of just six factory-supported Group B Ferrari 308s built. Lino Cazzola put it together for Pro Motor Sport, and it went on to compete in the World Rally Championship as well as the European and Italian rally championships. It’s up for sale at William i’Anson.

The car, chassis 24751, entered the world as a 308 GTS in 1978. With Group B rules implemented in 1983 and Pro Motor Sport picking up wins in 1983 and 1984, they had Lino Cazzola build up two cars for Group B competition. 24751 was one of them, completed for the 1985 season. The cars were lightweight, with body panels made from fibreglass and kevlar, and ran two-valve motors with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection.

24751 debuted with a respectable sixth place at the Rally Dell’ Isola d’Elba in the European Rally Championship, piloted by the team of Ercolani Massimo and Roggia Loris. The Ferrari continued to compete in 1985, getting its first taste of world championship rallying in Rally San Remo, again with Massimo and Loris on board.

The car’s career continued through the mid to late ’80s, contesting many rounds of the Italian Rally Championship, where it ran successfully, along with several European Rally Championship rounds. October of 1985 was a career highlight, with the car climbing the podium with third place finishes at Rally Città di Venezia and Coppa Liburna.

The 308 GTB Group B stayed with Pro Motor Sport until 1991, when it was bought by Stefano Durelli, who eventually sold to Alain Pages in 2004, seeing it journey to France. Pages remained the custodian of the car all the way to 2018, competing in historic events until he sold it to the current owner.

The current owner promptly handed it to Luigi Cazzola for a full restoration, which is now complete. With minimal hours on the car since, the car is immaculate and ready to continue its historic career.
