Auto Legends Descend on Chelsea

Submitted by on September 10, 2010

It was with great anticipation that we descended on the magnificent buildings & grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea to see some of the legendary cars of the great Le Mans 24 Hours races.

Right from the 1920’s through to today’s state of the art LMP1 sports prototypes we saw displayed some of the most remarkable machines that have raced around the clock in one of the world’s greatest & most famous sports car showdowns.

In addition to the cars we were privileged to watch the great Steve McQueen in one of the best racing movies, ‘Le Mans’, including some terrific footage from the actual 1970 race. With an introduction of the film where not a word is spoken for the first 35 minutes or so, fans of both cars & movies enjoyed a true treat. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the film & race was a great thrill for all involved.

In addition to the wonderful Le Mans showcase visitors were also up close & personal with some truly great rally cars such as Ari Vatanen’s Pikes Peak record breaking Peugeot 405 T16.

With the success of this first ever Chelsea Auto Legends event in London, we implore you to visit next year.
