Explore BMW’s Art Car Collection Online

Submitted by on July 28, 2011

BMW’s Art Cars are an institution. Since Hervé Poulain first asked artist Alexander Calder to turn his ’75 BMW 3.0 CSL into art before he took it to the 1975 24 Hours of Le Mans, 17 one-of-a-kind art cars have been produced by 17 one-of-a-kind artists.

Over the last four decades, the cars have been raced at some of motorsport’s most thrilling and prestigious events, displayed in BMW’s museum in Munich, and visited the world’s significant cultural institutions. For the next few months they have been brought together in the BMW museum for their first comprehensive exhibition until the 29th of September.

And their adventures continue, because they have been beamed up to the internets! www.bmw-artcartour.com, to be specific, where BMW have set up a virtual tour of the Art Car collection and packed it to the brim with photos, video, and information about every car.

Head to www.bmw-artcartour.com and check it out.
