When Formula 1 went to Las Vegas, by Clive James

Submitted by on October 25, 2011

After all the sadness in motorsport these past seven days, we have decided to put the final three Greg Moore stories on hold. I will run them – especially the Max Papis one – when the time is right.

So for now, enjoy a film made 30 years ago by Australian author and TV critic Clive James, made at the 1981 Grand Prix in Las Vegas. It is a fascinating insight to the characters that season, a fascinating and pithy insight to Las Vegas, and hopefully will bring a smile to faces of any motorsport fan.

The first part of the film is missing, but these two parts still tell the story. So in the company of Paul Newman, Tom Jones and a load of other celebrities, enjoy a story about a Formula 1 race in the Caesars Palace hotel car park.
