Video Documentary: Roy Salvadori

Submitted by on June 21, 2012

Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby

Most famous for winning the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans in an Aston Martin DBR1 with Carroll Shelby, Roy Salvadori was one of a very special breed of motorsport men.

He raced against Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss and Mike Hawthorn in Formula One, had the likes of Carroll Shelby and Jim Clark for teammates at Le Mans and was quick and fearless enough to keep up with the best of them, scoring two Formula One podiums, fourth in the ’58 World Drivers’ Championship and an overall win at Le Mans which he followed up with third a year later.

This documentary remembers his life and career, with plenty of insight from Salvadori himself and the people around him, all set against nearly an hour of glorious ’50s and ’60s motorsport footage.
