October 6th 1974 saw Emerson Fittipaldi bring home home McLaren’s first-ever world championship trophy. Forty years later he’s commonly refereed to as the ‘Father of Brazilian Motorsport’.

Fittipaldi also won the Formula One World Championship in 1972 whilst driving for Lotus, and the IndyCar Championship for Patrick Racing in 1989. The latter included a memorable win at the 1989 Indianapolis 500. In total he won 14 Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, and four non-championship Grands Prix.
