David Brabham and Jack’s 1959 Cooper Climax – Video

Submitted by on November 21, 2014

David BrabhamBrooding skies and the unmistakable backdrop of Sebring make for an awesome scene as David Brabham takes to the track in his father’s champion Cooper Climax. The car is of course, Jack Brabham’s famous Cooper Climax T51. It’s the machine he drove to an overall Formula One World Championship victory in 1959, and the same one he raced in that year, on this very track as part of the 1959 United States Grand Prix.

Brabham didn’t win the 1959 US GP, instead he came fourth and the race was taken by Bruce McLaren in another Cooper Climax. Sir Jack would place fourth at the American Grand Prix a total of four times in his career, never winning, but reaching the podium once in 1965 when he placed third.
