HR31 Nissan Skyline GTS-R

One of just four remaining, this HR31 Nissan Skyline GTS-R was the first built by Gibson Motorsport in 1988 and was raced by George Fury, Glenn Seton and Mark Skaife in period.

Fury debuted the car in 1988 at Adelaide International Raceway, before it went into the hands of Seton and a young Mark Skaife. They would race it in later rounds of the Australian Touring Car Championship, with Skaifey earninghis first podium in the car at Winton.

The HR31 ran in the 1988 Enzed Sandown 500 and Tooheys 1000 at Bathurst, but failed to finish either, losing the diff at Sandown and blowing the engine at Bathurst after the fan belt failed.

Gibson Motorsport continued to use it as a spare in 1989, with Skaife running it in a few rounds, also driving it in the Adelaide Grand Prix. From there it would go to New Zealand to act as a display car at the Nissan Mobil 500, but be called into action for Pukekohe the following weekend when Win Percy crashed his car and needed a drive.

After the team sold it it had a brief privateer career, also appearing in Sports Sedans. It has since developed a long and successful history with Heritage Touring Cars, running in the hands of several drivers in historic Group C & A racing in Australia.
