Video: Slow motion oversteer – 1971 South African Grand Prix

The guys from Axis of Oversteer found some Nizo Super 8 footage of the 1971 South African Grand Prix. They then added some new tunes, made it slow-mo and hey presto. Here is the result.

Kyalamai was the first round of the 1971 season and the race was won by Mario Andretti in a Ferrari 312B.

For me the award for best slide is between Mario’s teammate Jacky Ickx in the number four Ferrari and Chris Amon in the number 19 Matra Simca

    Very nice! This must be from practice, as the Leeukop grandstand is almost empty. For the race, I was sitting on the free stands just beyond the grandstand. Spent the night before in a sleeping bag on the concrete stands, just to get a good spot.
