Game On: Simraceway to Model McLarens

Wouldn’t it be nice to come home in the evening, hop in your McLaren MP4/4 or M6 GT, pull down the pits at Spa and pump in a few quick laps before dinner?

The dudes at Simraceway think so, and have secured a deal to develop high-detail virtual models of every car McLaren have created. So they’re off to a good start.

The team are building a free-to-play online racing game that will focus on authentic physics and good old fashioned door to door racing. The big news for us is their deal with McLaren, which means that they will be able to model all of McLaren’s legendary Formula One cars, such as those in which Senna won every one of his three world titles, their mighty Can-Am cars and their road cars. And we’ll be able to drive them. Virtually.

I like a spot of sim racing and would love to take to the track in cars from the golden era of motorsport. An MP4/4 would probably be my first choice, so I’m looking forward to giving it a go!

Are you into sim racing? Which retro racer would you like to take for a virtual spin?

Check out Simraceway’s website here. They have just entered open beta, which means you can sign up and test the still-in-development game for yourself.
