1964 Ginetta G4 – Widescreen Gallery

Submitted by on September 29, 2014

Ginetta G4Up close and personal with a memorable piece of 1960s British nostalgia; the ultra-lightweight Ginetta G4.

Ginetta have been building cars in one way or another since 1958, however it’s not every day that you come across one in the metal. Casting our minds back to times we’ve spotted one in person, we recall there to have been a Ginetta G4 racing in the Fordwater Trophy at the Goodwood Revival this year, however the last time we spotted this particular little beauty was at the 2013 Nurburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix.

This time around it was the pits of the 2014 Spa Six Hour, the perfect location for an impromptu photo shoot…

The owner and driver of the Ginetta G4 is Palle Birkelund Pedersen from Denmark. The car was actually build in 1964 originally equipped with a solid axle.

Ginetta G4_pic 20The solid axle has since been swapped out for an independent rear axle setup. It’s been fitted with inboard disk brakes, making it even more potent on the track than it was in its 1960s heyday .Ginetta G4_pic 2

Ginetta G4_pic 11Equipped with a 1720 cc twin cam Lotus engine, this particular Ginetta G4 is producing around 190hp (142kW), which is plentiful when you consider that this little fiberglass masterpiece weighs less than 1100lbs (500kg) soaking wet.

Ginetta G4_pic 12Fitted with a handful of modern safety features, a lap timer and a long-distance 70L fuel tank, the car is now used for endurance and nostalgic events throughout Europe.
